Typically Chamber Ambassadors is a group of member-investors that are used to establish "touch points" with the chamber's business community and cllients.  They also increase the chamber's visibility in the community.

With the goal of branding the chamber as a business association to better connect with the business community, you might consider the idea of branding or re-branding the Ambassadors and their function into a "Customer Relations Team" that established and maintains contacts with current member-investors, as well as creating touch points with prospects.
